Relay race for “good causes”!

RIPE2015 (7)
What started off as a crazy idea turned into reality last year: a relay race between Physio Extra clinics that sees employees run approximately 150 km to raise money for various local causes.

This year, a group of highly motivated employees participated in our second-ever race, which kicked off at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, from the new Physio Extra clinic in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, and ended at our head office at the clinic on Fleury street in Ahuntsic… 14 hours later!

Each clinic’s cause

mini_logoSNACThe Ahuntsic and Centre Culturel et sportif Regina Assumpta clinics have decided to give to the Service de Nutrition et d’Action Communautaire (SNAC), a non-profit organization created in 1992, whose mission is to provide food assistance to Ahuntsic residents living below the poverty line.

img_logoThe Plateau Gym and Plateau Mont-Royal clinics clinics have decided to give to the Fondation DesÉqulibres, whose mission is to provide training and skills development opportunities to organizations that use sports as a physical and psychosocial development tool, through innovative sports and outdoor projects and alternative educational activities for 12- to 35-year-olds having difficulties.

lionsThe Blainville and Downtown Blainville have decided to give to the Club Lions Sainte-Thérèse, whose mission is to meet the needs of people in their local community and around the world. With 1.36 million members performing community services in 210 countries and geographic areas around the globe, this volunteer-based organization embodies diversity as a core belief: community is what we make it.

téléchargementThe Lanaudière clinics (Lachenaie, Terrebonne and Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan)have decided to give to the Fondation Santé Sud de Lanaudière, whose clinical teams helped organize this year’s Virée Vélo Santé and will also be partners in the next winter challenge.
The Fondation’s mission is to raise funds to purchase medical equipment and develop unifying projects, which will help improve services and the health of the residents served by the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital and the health service organizations located in the southern part of the Lanaudière region.

ceFor its part, the Longueuil clinic has decided to give to the Centre de soutien entr’Aidants, an organization founded in June 1990 in response to a need expressed by the community. Its mission is to assist and support caregivers who care for an elderly loved one by ensuring that all caregivers, regardless of their circumstances, will be able to help their elderly loved one while maintaining their own physical, psychological, and financial health.

To raise funds—and to prepare for our ultimate challenge—we will run a 130-km relay race between the 11 Physio Extra clinics.

And, as an added incentive to keep us going, we’re selling off each kilometre of the October 28 race—show us your support and you’ll have the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
