Post-COVID condition usually occurs about three months after the onset of the illness, with symptoms lasting at least two months and not explained by another diagnosis (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/questions-and-answers\/item\/coronavirus-disease-(covid-19)-post-covid-19-condition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">source: WHO<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/physioextra.ca\/en\/health-tips\/long-covid-myths\/\">Read our blog article: Myths and Realities of Long COVID<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Common symptoms of Long COVID<\/h2>\n<p>The post-COVID condition can manifest through a wide range of symptoms. Their intensity may vary over time and affect several systems of the body. The most commonly reported include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Severe fatigue and post-exertional malaise<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath and chest tightness<\/li>\n<li>Muscle and joint pain<\/li>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Brain fog, memory and concentration problems<\/li>\n<li>Heart palpitations<\/li>\n<li>Chest pain<\/li>\n<li>Digestive issues<\/li>\n<li>Loss or alteration of taste and smell<\/li>\n<li>Sleep disturbances<\/li>\n<li>Anxiety and depressive symptoms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond the physical manifestations, Long COVID can have significant psychological effects. The uncertainty surrounding the duration of symptoms, daily limitations, and isolation can contribute to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. These aspects deserve particular attention during care and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<h2>How do you know if you have Long COVID?<\/h2>\n<p>Long COVID occurs following a COVID-19 infection. If symptoms persist or your health worsens, you should first consult your physician. After an evaluation, your doctor will be able to establish a diagnosis.
