What do you do after a motor vehicle accident?
Every year, PhysioExtra professionals help thousands of clients recover from motor vehicle accidents. Our team has developed a specific and interdisciplinary treatment approach that has demonstrated its effectiveness.
Our professionals have extensive expertise in treating this type of pain and disability. Their treatments are designed to help you resume all your personal and professional activities without limitations. You will also have the tools to properly manage your pain, your stress and your energy.
Throughout your rehabilitation, we team up with you, your doctor and your claim representative to facilitate your journey so that you can focus on your rehabilitation.
Are the treatments covered by the SAAQ?
The SAAQ reimburses $59 per physiotherapy treatment and $55,50 per acupuncture treatment. You will need to cover the difference (this amount may vary by clinic and may be subject to your group insurance coverage). When your automobile insurance includes the FAQ 34 endorsement, you may be entitled to reimbursement of certain medical expenses, including physiotherapy.
You can also obtain reimbursement from the SAAQ for your travel expenses to receive care, including mileage and parking fees.
How many sessions are covered by the SAAQ?
Physiotherapy: These treatments include 20 sessions at the start. The therapist handling your file will reassess your condition and, if necessary, request authorization to add sessions.
Occupational therapy: These treatments are of variable duration. The therapist responsible for your file will periodically reassess your condition and, if necessary, request authorization to add sessions.
Acupuncture: These treatments are of variable duration. The precise number of treatments authorized is the responsibility of the SAAQ representative responsible for your file.
Are all services offered in the same clinic?
I have already started physiotherapy treatments elsewhere. Can I get occupational therapy or acupuncture at PhysioExtra?
Yes. If your doctor recommends occupational therapy or acupuncture, you can undertake these treatments at PhysioExtra while continuing your physiotherapy treatments at another establishment.
Services reimbursed by the SAAQ
After a thorough assessment of your condition, a physiotherapist will explain to you which structures in your body are affected and will suggest a treatment plan for your recovery.
A physiotherapy technologist could team up with the physiotherapist to support you in your rehabilitation. Their advanced knowledge of motor vehicle injuries will ensure that you benefit from optimal care.
Different treatments can be considered such as exercises specific to your condition, joint mobilizations, muscle relaxation techniques, etc. Your therapist will also give you advice on how to relieve pain and resume your activities.
An occupational therapist will assess the impact of your condition on your normal abilities such as working, doing domestic chores and hobbies. Their treatments, which can take the form of strengthening exercises or simulations of work tasks, for example, will help you maximize your autonomy at each stage of your recovery.
Through various techniques and using therapeutic tools such as needles and suction cups, an acupuncturist will work to reduce the pain, stress, muscle tension and inflammation that can occur after a car accident.
