Who to consult?

Massage therapy

Choose the right professional for you based on your health issues.

Massage therapy uses a variety of manual techniques to decrease muscle tension, pain and stress, promote blood circulation and allow the body to move more freely. It is intended for people of all ages, in prevention or treatment, in order to promote overall well-being.

Why consult a massage therapist?

You may see a massage therapist for a variety of reasons: a recent or long-standing injury (such as pain in the back, neck, shoulder, or other area of the body), headaches (tension headaches), or a chronic illness such as osteoarthritis or fibromyalgia, among others.
Massage therapy is a good complementary approach to other treatments, such as physiotherapy and osteopathy, to improve recovery potential after injury. It is also part of the physical preparation of athletes, beginners or professionals, to optimize their performance.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

Massage therapy primarily aims to release tension in superficial and deep tissues to help the body move more freely. Its effects also promote blood circulation. In general, massage therapy brings many benefits:

  • Relaxation
  • Pain relief
  • Improved muscle flexibility
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Increase in respiratory capacity
  • Improved quality of life

What does a massage therapy session entail?

At the beginning of the meeting, your massage therapist will ask you questions about your medical history, your symptoms and your goals. Afterwards, he will let you sit comfortably on the massage table, most often on your back or on your stomach. This position can be adapted according to your preferences and your health condition.

If the chosen manual technique must be performed directly on the skin, your massage therapist will ask you to undress. You will have the choice to keep your underwear on or not. You will be covered with a sheet which will be folded in different ways throughout the treatment to expose only the massaged area. Your massage therapist will adapt the technique and pressure used to ensure your comfort.

Sessions always take place in a closed room. Light, temperature and music are adjusted to provide you with an atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
